Polished bore of a large pipe showing a helical weld overlay bead pattern
Core capability

CRA Weldoverlay Cladding

A welding process that deposits surfacing material on a substrate to improve corrosion or wear resistance. The overlay is metallurgically bonded to the base material, so the cladded component acts as one composite material.

ASMEAPI ISODNV

Computerised welding systems

Our workshop is equipped with computerized horizontal GTAW welding systems for cladding line pipes and spool pieces up to 12 metres in length, and computerized vertical pulsed hot-wire GTAW welding systems to clad a wide range of fittings, flanges, valve bodies, pressure vessels and similar components. Standards used for this product are ASME, API, ISO and DNV.

The state of the art welding system uses the latest PLC controller and electronic technologies to assist CES skilled craftsmen in producing high quality welds in accordance with the international codes and standards of ASME and API.

Cladding process control

Overlay welding is performed using WPS/PQR in accordance with ASME Section IX. In-process QC checks cover visual and dimensional examination including welding monitoring, with NDT to include UT, DPT, PMI and dimensional.
